Becoming a Catholic Through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A)

The initiation of catechumens is a gradual process that takes place within the community of the faithful.  By joining the catechumens in reflecting on the value of the paschal mystery and by renewing your own conversation, the faithful provide an example that will help the catechumens to obey the Holy Spirit more generously.

The RCIA at Immaculate Conception provides for unbaptized children and adults, ages 7 and older to be received into the Catholic Church though the sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist).

The process involves a weekly class comprised of these individuals and a parish catechetical team.  The class is also open to members of the church community who are either sponsors and/or fully initiated Catholics who seek a deeper understanding of scriptures and church tradition.  The R.C.I.A. classes for adults are held every Wednesday from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.  The R.C.I.A. classes for children takes place on Saturdays from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m.  Also consider that we are always looking for people to join us in this worthy ministry.
